Langkloof Bricks made history by introducing the first new energy efficient Vertical Shaft Brick Kiln (VSBK) in Africa.

This clay brick factory, owned by the Blake family in Jeffreys Bay is on record for pioneering one of the most technologically advanced VSBK kilns in the world today.

This is as a result of the successful implementation of a Technology Transfer programme initiated by the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation (SDC), Swisscontact (Swiss Foundation for Technical Co-operation) and SKAT (Swiss Resource Centre and Consultancies for Development).

Langkloof Bricks is an established Clay Brick manufacturer situated between Jeffrey's Bay and Humansdorp.

The company has been committed to the supply of quality clay brick products to the area since 1969. Langkloof Bricks was founded by the late Mr George Blake and Mrs Una Blake.

The day-to-day operations are managed by her two sons, Nico (Executive Director) and Pieter Blake (Production Director).

Langkloof Bricks became a member of the Clay Brick Association of South Africa in 1978, joined Cofesa as a member in 1990 and is currently also a member of the Kouga Business Forum in Jeffrey's Bay.

Langkloof Bricks also fully supports the principles of the BBBEE initiative of the government and is currently rated at Procurement recognition Level 2.

In addition to pioneering the first energy efficient VSBK brick firing kilns in South Africa, Langkloof Bricks has also recently set up the Brick Centre, located in a high traffic area on the outskirts of Jeffrey's Bay.

This innovative outlet is designed to represent and sell products for all clay brick manufacturers in the area.

Langkloof Bricks has been accoladed with two ‘Eastern Cape Top Green Organization’ awards this past week, by the Institute of Waste Management Southern Africa (IWMSA) , in association with the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT)....
